Song of the Day: Romantic Rights (Erol Alkan’s Love from Below Re-Edit) by Death from Above 1979
Death from Above has such a raw, dirty, groovy sound and this remix further accentuates those qualities. The original cut already oozed sexual prowess out of the distorted bass line and drum beat, but the addition of bongos and other random sonic textures makes the song rock out even harder with a mystique that’s truly fucking palpable. If you don’t have the Romance Bloody Romance collection by these guys, pick it up. It’s got 4 different remixes of this song as well as 4 more of “Black History Month” and other gems.

ah the life of a crab
So I haven’t been on in a while, so this video will have to make up for lost time. I had the Dr. Evil version of “What if God Was One of Us” stuck in my head for so long…
song of the Day: Thumper by The Jesus Lizard
I’d heard of this band for years but had never listened to them until today, and I dig what I’m hearing. They have kind of a Melvins-esque sound, lots of cool syncopated riffs with the vocalist yelling over them like Jello Biafra or Jon King of Gang of Four. And….they’re from Austin!

cool stuff
